Shoni Smith

Upon completion of studies with two renowned fiber artists, Mary Lou Higgins & Urban Japena, Shoni worked professionally in the discipline for 10 years, displaying at national & regional arts & craft shows along with museum & traveling shows. She belonged to the Foothills Craft Guild, The American Guild of Hand weavers, & the Tennessee Artists & Craftsman Association. Thereafter, she founded & established the H.A.E.P., now Peachtree Learning Center in 1988. As director, Shoni has sought to inspire the love of learning through multi-sensory experiences in the visual and performing arts, supporting & encouraging both educators & students to embrace the process, giving birth to excellence in product. “As a society, we are estranged from most of the process that surrounds our lives. Connecting with process within the arts helps us develop our world view, strengthening & enhancing our Spirit, Soul, & Body. Students at PTLC are taught that our gifts come from our Creator & it is their privilege to cultivate and steward those gifts.”
